Program Preview: Kosovo: 3 Years of Nationhood
Episode Date Feb 17 2011
Kosovo will celebrate three years since it first declared independence on Feb. 17. Three years pales when compared to its centuries-long history of widespread conflict and turmoil; the evidence of violence that scarred the landscape and its people lingers. Still, tensions between Kosovo and Serbia are taut, and some nations, even U.N. member countries, refuse to recognize Kosovo as an independent nation.
Straining relations further, recent allegations have surfaced alleging that Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci was involved with organized crime and organ trafficking.
Journalists who have watched Kosovo begin to take its first steps will discuss what's in store for the region's future.
You can participate in the discussion by emailing questions or comments to: globaljournalistprogram@gmail.com or post to our Facebook page with a chance to have your comments featured on the show.
