Wife confesses husband’s murder

The wife of the Vietnamese reporter, Lee Hoang Hung, who died earlier this month after being drenched in gasoline and torched in his sleep confessed to killing her husband, police reported on Feb. 14. Originally, his attack was suspected to be in relation to his controversial investigative reporting.

His wife, Tran Thi Thuy Lieu, admitted to killing her husband when she was brought into a police station on Feb. 13 for questioning. After arguing with her husband over money, Lieu claimed she didn’t mean to kill him but merely threaten him according Asiaone News.

Lieu was heavily involved in gambling and “lost over 1 billion dong ($47,000) during 22 gambling trips to neighboring Cambodia in December,” the Associated Press reported.
