Five journalists honoredPosted Nov 9 2010
Five journalists who died were honored with the “Hero of African Journalism Award” by the African Editors Forum (TAEF), at their awards gala on Oct. 15. The recipients included Deyda Hydara and Chief Ebrima Manneh of Gambia, Norbert Zongo of Burkina Faso, Jean Leonard Rugambage of Rwanda and Pius Njawe of Cameroon.
TAEF said in a press conference the award was given to send a message to their killers that, “They can run, they can hide, in the short term, but the truth will one day prevail as we, our partners and those with a conscience all over the world will continue to sing their songs and demand that the truth be unearthed.”
