Prominent television journalist stabbed to death in KabulPosted Sep 16 2010
Sayed Hamid Noori, a well-known anchor for Radio Television Afghanistan was stabbed to death near his home on Sunday, September 5, according to Reuters. The motives for his killing are unclear. President Hamid Karzai has reportedly ordered the Interior Ministry to manage the investigation.
According to a BBC report, Noori left his home around 10:30 pm after receiving a series of phone calls. He was later found covered with stab wounds nearby.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, Noori was active in the National Union of Afghan Journalists and was allied with political opposition groups of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
