Chavez on air againPosted Feb 24 2010
On Feb. 8, President Hugo Chavez began broadcasting a new radio program that can air whenever he chooses.
The new broadcast, “Suddenly with Chavez,” is part of the state-run Venezuelan National Radio and doesn’t have any set schedule. In the first program, Chavez said he could broadcast “at midnight or at dawn.”
This decision follows Chavez’s ongoing issues with the media after he ordered RCTV off the air. This action resulted in several protests throughout Venezuela, causing more problems for the president.
The program joins a Sunday radio and TV show that Chavez already has. The Sunday show begins at 11 a.m. and can last up to eight hours, the Knight Center for Journalism in Americas blog reports.
