Reuters photographer allowed to stayPosted Apr 18 2009
A prior decision to deny accreditation to Reuters photographer Rafael Marchante on the grounds of “professional behavior that did not comply with the legislation in effect” was recently reversed by the government of Morocco, according to Reporters Without Borders. Marchante, who has worked for Reuters in Morocco for over two years, will now be allowed to stay in the country. This decision was reached following contacts between the British news agency and Moroccan authorities, RSF reported.
Reuters said Marchante had respected the agency’s “trust principles” and had acted at all times “with integrity, independence and freedom from bias,” according to a statement on the RSF Web site.
